The Jansen Art Center welcomes Ruth Vanden Bos, violin and piano and Andrew Plaisier, cello, for a classical music performance, “Tangos, Spirituals and French Favorites: A Musical Soiree” on Tuesday, August 7.
This exciting duos program will include a variety of styles and time periods, including short Romantic favorites by Fauré and Ravel, mellow and bluesy arrangements of African-American Spirituals, a lesser-known duo sonata by Baroque composer Michele Mascitti and a brand new composition by Max Richter commissioned by Hilary Hahn.
Tickets are $15 and are available at the Jansen Art Center Gallery Shop or online at jansenartcenter.org/events/ruth-vandenbos-andrew-plaisier/
Ruth Vanden Bos:
Ruth graduated from Calvin College in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance and a minor in Business, and hopes to begin her Master’s degree in 2019. Having studied both piano and violin from a young age, she focused on violin in college but maintained her piano proficiency so that she can play concerts such as this one! Ruth’s musical adventures include orchestral performances in Eastern Europe and Costa Rica and tours alongside Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant. She performed a guest artist concert at the Jansen Art Center in 2016 and is ecstatic to be back with a delightful, new program.
Andrew Plaisier:
Andrew is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan with Master’s degrees in Cello Performance and Chamber Music. Prior to his time in Ann Arbor, Andrew attended Calvin College where he double-majored in Music and Biology. He is excited to present this diverse program of some of his favorite works!
